Welcome to the spring 2010 season of ASWLL baseball! We sincerely appreciate your willingness to volunteer to help with scorekeeping. Many hands make light work!

One of the changes for the spring season has to do with scorebooks. For majors’ and minors’ games, a scorebook belonging to each MLK field (i.e. Red 1 or Green 2) will be kept in the bin corresponding to each field. Before the first game of the day the Board Member on Duty will retrieve the book from the bin, along with the scoreboard controller, and place them at the field for the scorekeeper’s use. The scorekeeper can then pass the book and controller to the scorer of the next game. At the end of the day, the BMOD will put the book and controller back into the bin. This keeps the scorekeepers from having to provide their own books and also eliminates the need to schedule scorekeepers as each team is required have a designated scorer and a substitute.

For juniors’ and seniors’ games where inter-league play requires travel, the scorebooks will be kept by the manager along with the pitch count record. At the end of the game, the scorekeeper will return the book and pitch record to the manager. The books are still league property and will be returned at the end of the season. Every game should be recorded in an ASWLL book even if ASWLL is not the home team.

I am very much looking forward to meeting each of the volunteers from every team!

Please feel free to email or call me with questions!

Sincerely,
